Daily Prompt: Polite Company

The prompt said:

“It’s never a good idea to discuss religion or politics with people you don’t really know.” Agree or disagree?

I agree.

Politics and religion are two very sensitive topics. First, for you to be able to discuss them requires you to know a lot about them. Second, if you know a lot about the said topics, you need to know a lot about the people you’re talking with.

It is important to know the background of the person first before you discuss the said subjects. It is a requirement that you know where they are coming from such that you might be able to understand how they view things. In order to merit a mature discussion of both topics, one should be able to remove all clouds of bias first and that would only be solved be knowing the people you are to discuss with.
